RENATA
hand woven wool scarf
There is a lot of waste created with weaving. The ends of the warp, or thrums, leave a lot of yarn. I've always held onto this yarn as it felt like too much to throw away. I needed to find a way to use it
So I had an idea What if I tied all my warp ends together, many were already multicoloured meters from tying one warp to another, and make "new" yarn from it
I had been collecting my warp ends for over a decade, so during the first lockdown of 2020 I started tying them together and then wove myself a blanket!
But I still had so much "new" yarn to play with! So this year I'm making some recycled scarves. I can't use the yarn for warps as the knots get caught in the loom and cause lots of problems, but I can use it as weft, and make the knots a feature instead
I'm so excited to share them with you!
Please note that these scarves are HAND WASH ONLY
